On Tuesday 23rd February, our pupils from EYFS right through to Year 6 took part in an Australia Day event for the entire school day! It was a very hectic timetable but lessons included Tribal dancing, exploring landmarks, Aboriginal Art work, Dreamtime story telling, investigating animal adaptations and habitats as well as making traditional musical instruments including of course the … didgeridoo! We finished the day with a sing-along and a fun fact quiz with prizes for each year group.
The children reflected on the amazing culture and diversity of the Australian people throughout history, and compared it to own cultures, traditions and beliefs … finding lots of similarities and interesting differences 🙂
