The Reception class teacher is Emma Burdon. Megan Seager is the Teaching Assistant and Chloe Rogers is an apprentice from RWP.
We combine adult led and child initiated activities to create an exciting and broad curriculum. We teach directed phonics and Literacy through Read, Write Inc and Maths lessons in the mornings. In the afternoons we provide a range of sessions to ensure we offer a curriculum that covers all aspects of the Early Years curriculum
Summer term in Reception is always a busy one as we get ready to move into Key Stage One but we still find lots of time to have fun while we are learning.
Our overarching topic this term is Animals and Habitats. Over the next few months we will spend time looking at animals from near and far and where they live. We will be investigating why they live where they do. We will be looking at variety of animals and insects from the smallest bugs to giant sea creatures!
We will spend time in our outdoor environment. As well as looking for bugs in our garden we will also be growing plants and vegetables and finding out what plants need to grow.
We will finish our topic, and time in Reception by visiting the aquarium in Maryport to look at some of the sea creatures we have learnt about.
