We combine adult led and child initiated activities to create an exciting and broad curriculum. We teach directed phonics and Literacy through Read, Write Inc and Maths lessons in the mornings. In the afternoons we provide a range of sessions to ensure we offer a curriculum that covers all aspects of the Early Years curriculum.
Our overarching topic this half term is Food, Glorious Food. In the first half of Spring half term we looked at food from around the world. We enjoyed finding out about China, Italy and India and tasting traditional foods. This half term we will looking at the Eatwell Guide and how different food groups all contribute to our health. We will be cooking food from the different food groups and writing recipes with the intention of producing a recipe book for each child to take home.
To finish our topic off we will be visiting Strudda Bank Farm to find out where food comes from. This trip will also be a good introduction to Summers topic about animals and their habitats.
