Information for parents
Homework
Homework will be handed out on a weekly basis and will consist of basic maths skills sheets, a spelling list and a general topic/literacy task. Reading at home every night is also advised. They will receive their homework on a Thursday, and it should be uploaded to Dojo by the following Thursday. We are going to monitor homework on Class Dojo to avoid children physically handing in work at school. This will also allow us to keep track of who is handing in their work weekly.
PE
PE is an important part of your child’s curriculum so they must participate, unless there is a genuine reason they cannot. If your child cannot join in, could you please send a letter to school excusing them from the lesson. Your child will need a PE kit (including trainers) on a Wednesday and Thursday, pupils can leave these in school and take them home at half term to wash. Please remember that earrings are not allowed in school.
Reading Books
Your child is expected to read a selection of books throughout the year. Children will be given a levelled book and they will have the opportunity to choose a book to bring home from the library. Children will bring these books home every day, and are expected to bring them back into school each day. Alongside this, children will bring a reading record book home, if you could listen to your child read and feel free to write comments into the book, regarding the book, reading style, enjoyment level and any questions you may have asked your child.
If you have any questions regarding this information or any other queries, please to do not hesitate to contact Mr Stilwell.
